On Pentecost Sunday, May 27, 2012, Praise Lutheran will celebrate the Divine Service as members dress in red, the liturgical color for the Day of Pentecost. New members (first names only below) will be received this day: Ed & Sandy (transfer), Carol (profession of faith), Ted (confirmation), Gary (profession of faith), Gretchen, Kate, Sophia, and Jonathan (transfer). First Communion will take place for the following youth members: Dakota, Gracie, Abby, and Sarah. A cake reception for the above will take place after the service.

Pastor Roberts and the Elders met and agreed to grant that above mentioned youth, having learned what the Sacrament of the Altar means and having reviewed the Scriptural requirements for proper communion (worthy and well-prepared reception by faith alone in Jesus’ Words), to have their First Communion. These catechumens will continue study and memorization of the essentials of the Scriptural faith as contained in Luther’s Small Catechism prior to their Confirmation Day, which will be determined by their parents in consultation with Pastor Roberts and the Elders. Confirmation is not merely “graduation” or a “license to commune” but rather is a public confirmation of the gift given them in Holy Baptism and a confirmation of the faith that continues to be delivered to them by the Spirit through the prophetic and apostolic ministry in Christ Jesus’ name. If you have any questions about First Communion and our current and historic practices, please speak to Pastor Roberts and/or come to Congregational Catechesis on Sunday mornings at 9:15 a.m. in our social hall.
